More than a nonprofit, The Sed Aliis Project is the result of a lifelong friendship, a shared purpose, and a commitment to serving the next generation.
Tariq Steward and Craig Billiot, Jr. have been friends since their first day of seventh grade at Houma Junior High School. From there, they grew into brothers.
That brotherhood strenghtened further when they began coaching youth football together. Coaching sparked greater aspirations. Born from a joint desire to be part of something bigger than themselves and give back to the community that they grew up in, they founded a nonprofit organization - The Sed Aliis Project. In Latin, the phrase "Non sibi, sed aliis" translates to "Not for self, but for others." Being there for others is exactly what the organization's mission is.
The Sed Aliis Project envisions a community where every child - regardless of background or circumstance - has equitable access to sports, mentorship, and opportunities that inspire confidence, resilience, and lifelong success, supported by a community committed to giving back. Tariq and Craig make a great team - together, they aim to enrich the lives of Bayou Region families for years to come.
